Who Deep Wave Is For

Deep Wave suits women with 3A–3C natural hair who want a defined, S-shaped wave with tighter crests than body wave but not a full ringlet curl. It's particularly well-matched to women who wear wash-and-go styles, where the hair dries into a natural curl without heat assistance. Deep Wave is also the right texture for women who want to mimic a protective style that looks like their natural curls at full length, full, bouncy, and defined, without needing to manipulate or style the extensions daily. The texture is voluminous and holds its shape well, making it one of the most popular choices for full sew-ins and wigs.

How Deep Wave Behaves

Deep Wave produces a tight, compressed S-wave that sits closer to the strand than body wave, creating more density and volume per inch of hair. In moisture, the wave tightens and the pattern becomes more defined. When dry, the wave retains its structure well, especially in lower-humidity environments. Shrinkage is moderate: around 20–35% from measured length. The texture has medium-high porosity and absorbs water and product efficiently, which means it benefits significantly from leave-in conditioner applied while the hair is wet. Deep Wave holds a defined style without much manipulation, wash it, scrunch in product, and let it dry.

How to Care for Deep Wave Extensions

Wash every 7–10 days with sulfate-free shampoo. Conditioner is essential, apply generously and allow 5–10 minutes for penetration before rinsing with cool water. While the hair is wet and conditioned, detangle with fingers from ends to roots. Apply a curl cream or leave-in immediately after washing, while the hair is still soaking wet, and scrunch to encourage wave definition. Air dry or diffuse on low. Avoid towel-rubbing, which disrupts the wave pattern and causes frizz. Refresh between washes with a water spray. Deep condition monthly. Store in a silk bag, loosely braided or twisted.

How Many Bundles to Order

Deep wave shrinks 20–35% when dry, so it needs slightly more coverage than a straight install. At 16"–18": 2–3 bundles. At 20"–22": 3 bundles. At 24"+: 3 bundles. With an HD Lace Closure or HD Lace Frontal, reduce by one bundle. Mixing lengths works well in a single install: 18" at the nape and 22" at the crown creates natural layering without visible separation.
