Kinky Straight is for women with 4A–4B natural hair who want extensions that match their hair in its stretched or blown-out state, without the full commitment of a straight texture that's too smooth to blend. If you regularly wear your hair stretched, via a blowout, banding, or twist-out, Kinky Straight sits in that in-between space your natural hair occupies: not coiled, not silky, but texturally honest. It's also the preferred texture for women who want to wear extensions protective but still have visible texture at the hairline, making the install read as natural hair rather than an obvious extension.

How Kinky Straight Behaves

Kinky Straight has a slight roughness and body to the strand that mimics the feel of freshly pressed or blown-out 4B hair. There's no defined curl pattern, but the hair isn't pin-straight either: it has movement, subtle kink, and a density that reads as natural. In high humidity, the hair absorbs moisture and swells slightly, returning a little body and bend, which actually improves blending with natural hair in humid climates. Shrinkage is minimal compared to kinky textures. The hair accepts heat very well and can be flat-ironed to a sleeker finish or finger-coiled for added texture.

How to Care for Kinky Straight Extensions

Wash weekly or every 10 days with sulfate-free shampoo. Co-wash between wash days if the hair feels dry. Use a thick, creamy leave-in conditioner to maintain moisture, lighter leave-ins evaporate too quickly for this texture. Detangle from ends to roots with a wide-tooth comb while the hair is wet and conditioned. Air dry preferred; if blow-drying, use a tension method with low heat to maintain the stretched-straight finish. Deep condition monthly. Store in a satin bag, detangled and loosely wrapped. Avoid petroleum-based products, which coat the strand without penetrating and build up quickly in a kinkier texture.

How Many Bundles to Order

Kinky Straight has minimal shrinkage, so the installed length stays close to what you ordered. At 16"–18": 2 bundles. At 20"–22": 2–3 bundles. At 24"+: 3 bundles. With an HD Lace Closure or HD Lace Frontal, reduce by one bundle. For a partial sew-in with 4A–4B leave-out, 2 bundles blends cleanly at most lengths. Kinky Straight pairs well with 4C Kinky for installs where the leave-out is natural 4C but the rest of the hair is in a stretched state. All Adéorí bundles are 100 grams each and sold individually.
