Who Loose Curls Is For

Loose Curls is for women with 3A–3B natural hair who want a voluminous, open curl that doesn't read as kinky but has more definition than a wave. It's the "large barrel curl" of the extension range: a wide, spiralling pattern with visible movement and bounce. Women who wear their hair in a naturally curly state without heat will find that Loose Curls sits right at the boundary between a defined curl and a soft wave, making it easier to blend with a wider range of curl types than tighter textures. It's also an excellent option for wig builds where a naturally curly, mid-loose texture is the goal.

How Loose Curls Behaves

The curl pattern of Loose Curls is open and springy, with a diameter roughly equivalent to a large-barrel curling iron. In moisture and humidity, the curls tighten slightly and become more defined. In dry conditions, they may loosen and soften into something closer to a large wave. Shrinkage is low to moderate: around 15–25% when fully dry. The hair is medium porosity with good moisture retention, it holds hydration longer than tighter curl patterns because the cuticle surface area is lower. Heat styling is safe but the curl is easily achievable without it. Diffusing on low heat is the most effective way to define and set the curl after washing.

How to Care for Loose Curls Extensions

Wash every 7–10 days with a hydrating, sulfate-free shampoo. Apply conditioner throughout and finger-detangle gently, the curl pattern is open enough that a wide-tooth comb can be used when the hair is fully saturated. Scrunch in a curl cream or mousse while wet and allow to air dry or diffuse on low. Avoid brushing when dry, which separates the curl and creates frizz. Refresh daily or every other day with a water and leave-in mist. Store loosely braided or in a loose bun inside a silk bag. Deep condition every 3–4 weeks.

How Many Bundles to Order

Loose Curls has 15–25% shrinkage. The open curl adds visual volume, so the bundle count stays lean. At 16"–18": 2 bundles. At 20"–22": 2–3 bundles. At 24"+: 3 bundles. With an HD Lace Closure or HD Lace Frontal, reduce by one bundle. For a very dense, full finish, add one extra bundle at any length. Loose Curls works best with 3A–3B natural leave-out; for looser curl patterns (2C–3A), consider Body Wave instead for a closer blend.
