Afro Curly Extensions, Matched to 4B–4C

Ìyẹ́ is a 2mm s-pattern coil, the same tight coil size as Adé, our 4C hero, but rounder. Where Adé's z-pattern bends sharply, Ìyẹ́ curves. If your own hair holds a rounder tight coil rather than a sharp zigzag, this is usually the closer match.

The spec

Coil size: 2mm · Pattern: s · Matches: 4B–4C · Hair: 100% Remy, cuticle-aligned

What Ìyẹ́ means

Ìyẹ́ is Yoruba for feather, specifically the kind used in ìyẹ́ ọ̀kín, the peacock plume that adorns a Yoruba royal crown. We didn't name a texture after the peacock itself (that mark belongs to the whole brand); we named this one after the plume that decorates the crown, which is a better fit for a texture that pairs with Adé rather than competes with it. Adé is the crown. Ìyẹ́ is what adorns it.

Best for

4B–4C hair with a tight, rounded curl pattern rather than a sharp z-bend: dense, high-shrinkage hair that wants curl definition without flattening into a smoother pattern. A common signal: if you've tried a "4C" extension before and it looked slightly too angular or sharp-edged against your own coil, Ìyẹ́'s rounder pattern is usually the fix. Unsure which is yours? Find your match in 60 seconds.

Compare to its neighbors

One step tighter and sharper is Adé — 4C Kinky Coily (2mm, z-pattern, 4B–4C): same size coil, angular instead of rounded. One step looser is Ayaba — Afro Kinky (3mm, z-pattern, 4B), a slightly larger coil. Between Ìyẹ́ and Adé is mostly a pattern-shape question, not a size one. Look at whether your curl bends in a sharp zigzag (Adé) or a rounder loop (Ìyẹ́).

Length and shrinkage

Measured with the hair stretched straight, Ìyẹ́ sits about 4–5 inches shorter worn in its natural coil. Tight coils shrink more per inch than looser patterns. Order a length up from what you'd pick for a mid or loose texture if visible length matters to you.

How many sets

Most 4B–4C installs in Ìyẹ́ run 2 sets at shoulder length, 3 for longer or fuller looks. The tight coil carries volume efficiently, so it's a similar set count to Adé and Ayaba rather than the looser textures, which typically need more. Pairing with our HD closure or HD frontal doesn't change the count.

Care

Like the other tight-coil textures, Ìyẹ́ holds its pattern best with minimal manipulation. A satin bonnet at night, stretched wash cadence, and gentle detangling keep the curl defined install to install.
